The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) aims to motivate students towards durable learning that extends beyond the short-term and into the long-term learning. The ultimate objective is to encourage and motivate the development of independent learning skills as we believe learning is not bound by time or certificate.
To achieve our aim TLC believes in synergy and partnership with all academic departments, management, faculty, and students to achieve high quality in our higher educational provision.
Introduction
The center was established in 2015 with the aim of serving AU's vision of "Enabling Human potential within a Culture of Care". The center supports faculty to deliver excellence in teaching to students. TLC aspires to graduate employable students to be effective contributors in their societies and to the world.
Our services inspire and empower both faculty and students to achieve their full potential. We believe that the influence of excellence in teaching has endless effect.

Introduce yourself, talk about your background, your major and your interest in the major to engage students in the first sessions.

Learning and using names of students creates a more friendly classroom environment and grabs the attention of students.

3Make Your Lectures Interesting and Engaging
Give real life examples related to the subject being taught. Ask questions and keep students engaged in your teaching process.

4Let Students Ask Questions
Encourage students to ask questions in classroom without having the feeling of being judged.

5Use Power of Feedback
Provide students with constructive feedbacks as a genuine desire to help them. Feedback increases learning and improves students' outcome.

1Translate to Your Own Words
When studying, do not memorize the concept but understand it. Read the subject and explain it to yourself in your own words.

2Practice
Practice different types of questions, cases, and scenarios. Try to make questions from the context and answer them. Search for simple and complex sample questions and solve them on your own.

3Use Visual Aids
To help the learning process, flowcharts, diagrams, photos, and videos are great studying tools. You can also read the subject yourself and summarize by drawing it in a diagram format.

4Have a Plan
Create a schedule for your studies including the timing and goals you want to achieve at the end of each day/week/month. There are online softwares designed to manage your timetable.

5Reward Yourself
After achieving every goal, reward yourself. The reward can be having a break for watching your favorite TV show or eating your favorite food.
