Guidance that stays with you all year

Student Affairs fosters a supportive environment that helps you make the most of your personal and academic development at AU. It brings departments and stakeholders together in a coordinated, fair way, bridging gaps and helping you progress in line with university policies.

Through dedicated guidance and structured support, Student Affairs contributes to your growth, self-development, and future success.

Student Orientations
Orientation sessions are held before the start of each semester for new students. Attendance is essential, as sessions cover AU’s academic and non-academic regulations and policies. Newly joined students must register for the Student Orientation Session through the Student Affairs Office after receiving their Offer Letter from the Admissions Unit.
Students / Parents Concerns
Students are welcome to contact Student Affairs or stop by the office to raise any concerns. Parents who wish to discuss a student’s progress are also welcome to meet with Student Affairs staff at any time during working hours.
Tutoring Center
Free tutoring is available to all students seeking additional guidance. The peer tutoring program is delivered by current students and recent graduates, offering one-on-one and group sessions across Mathematics, Physics, Business, Engineering, and Aviation — helping students strengthen their understanding, build study skills, and gain confidence.
Non-Academic Policies
Student Affairs aims to create a warm atmosphere for students while believing that institutional success relies on the clear, firm application of policies and procedures — ensuring a safe and caring environment for the AU community.

Does AU provide counselling for students?

Our mission

To provide counselling to students facing emotional difficulties and psychological challenges — helping them build stronger mental health so they can focus on their studies, succeed, and graduate.

Counselling is confidential and available to all AU students. You do not need a referral to get in touch.

Support for students with learning differences

The Centre for Learning Differences (CLD) believes every student has the right to an equal opportunity to education. CLD supports students with a recognised disability and facilitates provisions under the Rights of People with Disabilities — State of Kuwait (Law No. 8 of 2010).

Eligible students are entitled to reasonable academic adjustments to help overcome difficulties caused by their condition.

Our mission: to ensure students with disabilities receive appropriate academic support, improving their educational experience through collaboration with faculty and staff while encouraging self-advocacy.
What CLD provides
  • Academic support for learning differences, sensory or mobility disorders, and chronic medical conditions.
  • Individual and small-group intervention and remediation — organising, study, and time-management skills.
  • A single point of contact between departments to communicate students’ needs.
  • A comfortable, low-distraction space to study and sit assessments.
  • Specialised exam support for students who require it.
  • Awareness of the issues and challenges faced by CLD-registered students.

Everything you need to know about appeals

AU maintains the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and accountability. Our formal Ethics and Appeals Committees ensure students have access to fair processes for reviewing decisions that affect their academic progress or student experience.

Student appeals are managed in accordance with the University's approved policies and procedures. View the AU Students Booklet (policies and procedures).

Student Assessment Appeals

If you believe an assessment result or final grade was affected by a procedural or administrative error, you can submit a formal appeal. The process follows the Student Assessment Appeals Policy and Procedure, which sets out eligibility, responsibilities, timelines, and review steps.

When can I appeal an assessment?

Who reviews my appeal?

The Committee meets regularly throughout the academic year, or as required, to review submitted appeals and related academic matters.

Reporting

Student Conduct Appeals

AU promotes a respectful, safe, and inclusive learning environment. If you’re subject to disciplinary action arising from an alleged breach of the Student Code of Conduct, you have the right to appeal the decision. Investigations are conducted by the Student Affairs Department under the Manager of Student Affairs.

The AU Non-Academic Appeals Committee independently examines the appeal and supporting evidence before determining the outcome.
