The Australian University (AU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Waves, establishing a strategic partnership aimed at supporting the development of Kuwait’s maritime sector through education, training, innovation, and youth development.
The MoU was signed at a ceremony held on August 10th at the AU campus, with Prof. Isam Zabalawi, President, representing AU, and Mr. Fahad Al Hafedh, General Manager, representing Waves. The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Hany Magdy, Sales Manager at Waves, and Mr. Abdullah Shams Al Deen, Manager – Maritime Technical at AU.
The partnership will strengthen the connection between academic education and industry expertise by providing students and graduates with specialized training programs, practical workshops, field experiences, and opportunities for internships and employment within the maritime sector.
As part of the collaboration, AU and Waves will also work together to launch a Maritime Club for AU students, providing opportunities to participate in maritime activities, competitions, and initiatives that develop practical skills and encourage greater youth engagement in the sector.
The partnership further reflects a shared commitment to advancing maritime innovation, sustainability, environmental awareness, and applied research while contributing to the development of national talent and Kuwait’s maritime sector.
