The Australian University (AU) has received approval from the General Department of the Coast Guard as a licensed and accredited institution to train and qualify those wishing to obtain a Nokhita (A) license, and to issue certificates to those who meet the course requirements.
This significant milestone was achieved following a thorough inspection by a specialized team from the General Department of the Coast Guard. The team evaluated AU’s facilities, training halls, simulators, and the procedures followed by AU’s Maritime Department in their Nokhita (A) course.
To mark the occasion, Brigadier General Shiekh Mubarak Ali Al Yusuf Al Sabah, Director of the General Department of the Coast Guard, presented a certificate of accreditation to Mr. Sager Al Sharhan, Assistant to the President for Support Services at AU. The presentation took place during an event held at the Sabah Al Ahmad Naval Base and was attended by Mr. Abdullah Shams Al Deen, Maritime Technical Manager at AU, Marine Colonel Mishaal Al Quraifa, Marine Colonel Yusuf Al Salem, Marine Colonel Abdullah Al Rashed, and Marine Lieutenant Colonel Yusuf al Haddad.
Commenting on the achievement, Mr. Shams Al Deen said: “We would like to thank the Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Department of the Coast Guard for their trust in our university, and we would like to stress on AU’s constant keenness to strengthen its ties with the public sector for the benefit of Kuwait as a whole. The Maritime Department will continue to seek accreditation for other maritime courses to cater the maritime sector and seafarers in general with the best caliber.”
