The Futsal team of the Australian University (AU) crowned champions of the Universities Athletic Association in Kuwait (UAAK) Futsal League. The League brought together seven teams from various private universities in Kuwait, taking place over the course of 2 months, until the final championship game on 9 June 2022 , which ensued in winning AU team.
Concluding the league, AU face off GUST at their Field for the championship title. After a Tie score, the final game ran to penalty kicks, and resulted in the big won of AU team 4-3. Following the game, the goalkeeper of AU team, Student Fawaz Al Ayoubi, crowned (Man of the Match) by the Student Life department for his extraordinary performance.
Mr. Abdullah Khaledi, Student Life Staff at AU, coached the AU futsal team composed of Abdullah Mubarak, Ali Mohammed, Fawaz Al Ayoubi, Abdulwahhab Hassan, Fahad Al Fraij, Sulaiman Al Attar, Hamad Al Rashed, Saleh Al Kanderi, Haider Jasim, Abdullah Al Mahboub, Hussain Al Shemali, Mohammed Akbar, and Bashar Al Zaabi.
Commenting on this notable achievement, Mr. Hussain Al Haddad, Manager of the Student Affairs Department at AU, said: “On behalf of AU, I would like to congratulate our Futsal team for the well-deserved win of the University Athletic Association of Kuwait Tournament, all the hard work has paid off. It is indeed an amazing accomplishment for us especially after the long break due to the pandemic, I would like to thank the organizers, the participating teams and everyone who supported this tournament and I wish continued success to our hardworking champions.”
