The office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) was created in 1950 by the UN General Assembly, to help millions of Europeans who had fled or lost their homes. Today, over 72 years later, the organization is working in 128 countries around the world to protect and assist refugees and internally displaced persons to find solutions to their plight. Kuwait is amongst the top donors to UNHCR's operations around the world.
