Ali Dashti
Ali Dashti, PhD is a materials scientist and mechanical engineer. His career spans academic research, industrial engineering, and startup R&D, with a focus on materials development and real-world deployment. He holds a doctorate from UCLA, where his aerogel insulation research was funded by ARPA-E in partnership with Cardinal Glass. At Loliware in Silicon Valley, he served as Senior Process Engineer on a seaweed-derived biopolymer program that produced two U.S. patents and earned recognition from TIME Magazine among America’s Top Greentech Companies of 2024, and from Fast Company as an Honorable Mention in its World Changing Ideas 2024 list. As Principal Engineer at Astro Lab, he designed the world’s first turnkey additive manufacturing ecosystem, commissioned for Abu Dhabi’s Ministry of Defense. He currently serves as Co-Principal Investigator on KFAS-funded passive cooling solution for buildings at Kuwait University and as Adjunct Instructor at Australian University, Kuwait.
