AU Volunteers Share Stories with Children at Al-Razi Hospital

On the morning of December 31, 2025, volunteers from the Australian University (AU) visited Al-Razi Hospital, where they spent time reading to children in a warm and meaningful community initiative. The volunteer group included faculty members from the English Language Program and the Business School, along with a student from the Aviation Maintenance degree program, who came together to use storytelling as a source of comfort, joy, and connection.

The visit was led by Dr. Fajer Bin Rashed, Assistant Professor at the English Language Program, through her Picturebook Club initiative and organized with the support of AU’s Public Relations and Marketing Department. Volunteers described the experience as a grounding and fulfilling way to close the year, emphasizing the impact of engaging with children through shared stories in a hospital setting.

Concluding the visit, the volunteers donated a collection of bilingual picture books to the hospital’s library, supporting continued access to reading for young patients, and reflecting the university’s ongoing commitment to literacy, community service, and meaningful outreach beyond the classroom.
