Reaffirming its commitment to delivering high quality maritime education, the Australian University has successfully completed the periodic evaluation conducted by the Audit and Quality Department of the Kuwaiti Coast Guard. The review aimed to ensure that AU’s maritime training, assessment, and certification programs meet the international standards outlined in the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) of 1978 and the Manila Amendments of 2010, in line with Amiri Decree No. (115) of 2016 approving the Manila Amendments.
The two-day audit was carried out by a Coast Guard evaluation team led by Captain Abdullah Al Rashed as chief evaluator, alongside Captain Hamad Al Ateeqi, Captain Omar Khalefouh, and Engineer Fatima Al Naqi. The team met with AU President Professor Isam Zabalawi and representatives from various departments. The evaluation results confirmed full international requirements, reflecting AU’s dedication to upholding global standards in maritime education and training, and its continuous efforts to enhance the quality and efficiency of its academic and training programs.
This achievement reinforces AU’s standing as a regional hub for maritime training, applying best practices and international standards in the field, and further strengthens the ability of Kuwait’s educational institutions to graduate highly qualified maritime professionals with world-class competencies.
