The Australian University (AU) recently conducted a series of fire safety awareness activities in collaboration with the Kuwait Fire Force (KFF), emphasizing the importance of preparedness and swift emergency response within its campus community.
As part of these efforts, AU’s Health, Safety, and Security Department organized a fire evacuation drill at the Engineering Building in coordination with the Mishref Fire Station. The drill, led by Brigadier Rifai Mubarak Saeed, simulated an emergency scenario that included evacuating the building, rescuing individuals, and extinguishing a controlled fire.
Commenting on the significance of the drill, Mr. Abdulmohsen Al-Rifai, Senior Manager of the Health, Safety, and Security Department at AU, stated: “These routine training exercises conducted in collaboration with various state institutions are essential for ensuring a quick and effective response to emergencies. They help protect lives and property while also fostering a strong culture of safety within our university community.”
In addition to the evacuation drill, AU also hosted a bilingual awareness session on fire safety principles and best practices. The session, led by KFF’s Major Mohammad Asiri, focused on fire hazards in engineering laboratories and parking areas. Attendees received both theoretical knowledge and hands-on training in using firefighting equipment such as fire extinguishers and fire blankets.
These initiatives reflect AU’s commitment to enhancing safety awareness and equipping students, faculty, and staff with the knowledge and skills needed to handle fire-related emergencies effectively. The university continues to prioritize safety as a fundamental part of its educational environment.
