In line with its continuous commitment to social corporate responsibility, AU organized its fifth annual blood donation event under the slogan of “Life beats with your blood.” The Event was held on campus over the course of three days, with the first two days exclusive for staff and students, and the third day open for public to increase donation intake and community engagement.
The event organized by the Health and Safety department at AU, with the contribution of volunteering students who participated in organizing event logistics such as registration, and overall event process for donors under the management of the Health and Safety Department Manager, Ms. Mariam Al-Maraghi. In addition to its humanitarian aspect, the campaign acquired an educational dimension, as it raised health awareness regarding the benefits of donating blood through printed cards that were distributed to donors with health information on them.
Highlighting the positive impact of the event on student volunteers, Ms. Al Maraghi stated that this event was organized through the participation of students as a way for them to learn soft skills such as self-reliance and customer service. Ms. Al Maraghi further added: “As a private university, we believe in the value of students as an integral part of the educational system, which necessitates us to instill in them the importance of giving and the essence of humanity.”
