The Australian University organized the Engineering Graduation Project Exhibition for engineering students for the Spring 2024/2025 semester. The event was held at the Salwa Al Sabah Hall under the patronage of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Saad Al Omari, and with attendance from Prof. Isam Zabalawi, President of AU; Eng. Sager Al Sharhan, Assistant to the President for Support Services; H.E. Ms. Melissa Kelly, Australian Ambassador to Kuwait, and a distinguished collection of professors, engineers, academics, and representatives from the public and private sectors.
The exhibition served as a platform to showcase the efforts of 224 final-year engineering students across the various engineering disciplines. A total of 48 graduation projects were presented, which spanned the four engineering disciplines offered at AU: Petroleum Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The projects included innovative solutions that reflect the students’ deep understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of their fields, with a remarkable integration of Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things technologies.
More than 30 judges from government institutions and private companies participated in evaluating the projects, with the best projects selected based on precise technical and scientific criteria. This collaboration underscores the university’s strong ties with industry partners to achieve excellence in academic and professional standards.
Commenting on the event, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Niby, Dean of the College of Engineering, said: “This year’s projects exhibit academic depth and clear practical application. They are feasible for implementation across various industrial sectors and offer potential solutions to current challenges in the local work environment.”
For his part, Dr. Mohamad Farhat, Associate Professor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, said: “The primary goal of this exhibition was to highlight the engineering capabilities of our students and connect them with real-world practice. They showed a high level of professionalism in addressing technical challenges, proving their readiness to enter the workforce.”
Adding her perspective, Dr. Bashayer al Khalifah, Manager of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, said: “This exhibition is a practical embodiment of the university’s vision to support innovation and transform academic ideas into applicable real-world projects—one of the core goals of our center. We are proud of what the engineering students have achieved and look forward to seeing these projects grow into successful startups. We wish all Australian University students a promising future filled with success and accomplishments.”
