AU Celebrates Third Place Achievement in Huawei International Competition

Three students from the Australian University (AU) won third place in the International Huawei Information and Communication Technology (ICT) competition. 

A ceremony was held on AU’s campus to honor the participants in the competition for their remarkable achievement. The honored students were Faisal Al Nwayem, Othman Muzher, and Haya Sammour. Additionally, Mr. Mohammad Zaki, Senior Instructor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at AU and advisor to the team, was also recognized for his guidance throughout the competition. The ceremony was attended by various members of AU’s faculty and administration including Mr. Sager Al Sharhan, Assistant to the President for Support Services; Dr. Mohamed Abdul Niby, Dean of the College of Engineering, and Dr. Hassan Salti, Head of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. 

The ICT competition consisted of four different phases, with the initial two phases held nationally in Kuwait. The three AU students excelled in these phases, qualifying to represent Kuwait in the regional competition held in Manama. After securing third place in the regional competition, they were given the chance to represent Kuwait in the International Huawei ICT competition held in China in which they competed against 168 teams representing 163 countries and achieved third place.  

Commenting on the achievement, Mr. Mohammad Zaki praised the students for their hard work and dedication, and thanked Prof. Isam Zabalawi, AU President, Dr. Abdul Niby and Dr. Salti for their continuous support for students and faculty and their activities.
