The Diploma of Human Resources Management (0-2) program at the Australian University (AU) has been designed to help human resources professionals succeed as strategic partners within their organization. It focuses on managing an organization's most valuable resource — its people — by attracting, retaining, and motivating employees to accomplish organizational goals. The program requires completion of 60 credit hours.
The Department of Human Resources Management combines classroom learning with real-world industry exposure, and our faculty are committed to excellence in teaching and research — providing an experiential learning model that gives graduates the knowledge, practical skills, and professional attitude required for developing, maintaining, and excelling in their careers.
Program Objectives and Learning Outcomes
Graduates of the Diploma of Human Resources Management (0-2) are able to:
- Contribute in recruitment, selection, and retention of employees
- Participate in performance management processes
- Contribute to organizational success through effective employee relations
- Assist with administration and communication of total compensation plans
- Develop policies and procedures for separation/termination of employment
- Plan and act on personal professional development plans to achieve ongoing competence in human resources professional practicee
- Participate in planning, delivery, and evaluation of employee orientation, training, and development programs
- Identify the HR component of a business plan
- Assist in collection and analysis of HR data
By successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of ethics and the legal environment of contemporary business
- Explain major concepts in functional HR areas
- Use quantitative skills for management decision-making and problem-solving
- Evaluate theories explaining human behavior
- Evaluate business economic environments
- Demonstrate an understanding of basic concepts, principles, and theories of management
- Analyze the key concepts and tools of marketing and their respective roles in business
- Describe the role of information technology and information systems in business
- Apply knowledge of business concepts and functions in a strategic manner
- Develop and apply academic knowledge in professional settings
- Obtain in-depth knowledge through electives in specific related areas

Entry Requirements & Study Plan
Requirements for Entry
Applicants to the Diploma of Human Resources Management (0-2) and other College of Business diploma programs from government and Arabic private schools need a minimum high school average of 60%; applicants from other educational systems need a minimum GPA of 1.50. Both Science and Literature stream backgrounds are accepted.
Required documents include an authenticated High School Certificate (or an equivalency letter for non-local systems), a valid passport copy with residency page for non-Kuwaiti applicants, a current civil ID copy, one 4×6 inch photograph, and completion of AU's English Placement Test — or a minimum IELTS score of 3 or TOEFL score of 71.
