On May 26th, students from the Mechanical Engineering program visited Gulf Glass Manufacturing Company (GGMC). The objective of the visit was to introduce the students to a real implementation of machine design in an industrial application. Students were able to see how glass bottles are manufactured from raw materials to the final stage where the bottle gains its final shape and logo. GGMC staff delivered a seminar about the production phases of glass. The raw materials that are used in production were introduced, then the phases that are carried out until the glass bottle is manufactured were demonstrated. The codes and standards that are followed during the manufacturing process were also identified. After the seminar, a tour was made inside the factory. The College of Engineering at AU sincerely thanks GGMC for their time and effort to ensure our students had a meaningful visit.
