AU showcases engineering excellence at Smart Infrastructure Projects Conference

The Australian University (AU) demonstrated strong academic leadership through its active participation in the Investment, Sustainability Challenges and Innovative Solutions in Smart Infrastructure Projects Conference, held in Kuwait on 3–4 February 2026 in conjunction with the Gulf Engineering Forum 27. Organized by the Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE), the conference brought together engineers, academics, industry leaders, and policymakers to explore investment strategies, sustainability challenges, and emerging technologies shaping the future of smart infrastructure across the Gulf region.

Faculty members and students from AU’s Civil, Mechanical, Petroleum, and Electrical Engineering Departments delivered 13 diverse presentations across three well-attended sessions, reflecting the depth and relevance of the university’s research and applied expertise. The presentations addressed innovative engineering solutions, sustainable design approaches, and practical implementation models aligned with regional development priorities.

AU’s distinguished presence was further reinforced by the participation of Dr. Taha Ahmed, Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at AU, as a member of the conference’s scientific committee, highlighting the university’s contribution to advancing research excellence and scholarly collaboration. In addition, Eng. Mohammad Iyad Al-Khiami, Senior Instructor of Civil Engineering at AU, delivered a pre-conference workshop titled “From BIM to VR: Hands-On Design and Visualization with Autodesk Revit,” equipping participants with practical skills in digital design and visualization.

Through its impactful contributions, AU continues to strengthen its role as a leading academic partner in supporting intelligent, resilient, and sustainable infrastructure development in Kuwait and the wider Gulf region.
