The Australian University (AU) top performed in the 16th Technological Innovations Conference and Exhibition (TICE) and the 9th Engineering Excellence Award (EEA) by securing awards under the category of “Energy”.  

AU’s involvement in TICE dates to its 10th edition in 2019, reflecting the university’s long-standing commitment to advancing research, innovation, and collaboration with Kuwait’s engineering community. 

This year, AU’s College of Engineering achieved remarkable success. Dr. Arash Mehdizadeh, Assistant Professor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at AU, presented a technical paper and, along with his students, earned the Silver Award under the “Energy” category. Meanwhile, Dr. Suad AlRadhwan, who also chaired a technical session featuring five industrial presentations, and her students received the Gold Award in the same category. 

The project that received the gold award, titled “Feasibility Study of Shifting Vehicles in Kuwait to Green Hydrogen in Comparison to Fossil Fuel and Electric Vehicles,” was led by Dr. Suad AlRadhwan with students Yasmain AlOwaisheer, Mohamed Abdelmageid, Fatemah AlKhadhari, and Nawal AlSamhan.  

As for the silver award project, titled “Oil Spill Detection Using Artificial Intelligence,” was led by Dr. Arash Mehdizadeh with students Jumanah AlSharar, Fahdah AlKhaledi, Nejoud AlAzemi, and Danah AlEnezi. 

Additionally, Petroleum Engineering students Manaris Murad and Ahmad AlKhamees were honored with the Engineering Excellence Award (EEA) in the “Emerging Engineers” category, recognizing their outstanding contributions and dedication to innovation.
