AU is proud to announce that Dr. Jean El Achkar, Assistant Professor of Petroleum Engineering at AU and Research Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) – Middle East Centre, participated as a panelist at the LSE Kuwait Conference 2025, hosted by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) on 15 September 2025.
Speaking in the panel “Opportunities and Strategies”, Dr. El Achkar highlighted the importance of transforming Kuwait’s organic waste into renewable bioenergy within a circular economy framework. He discussed strategic policy pathways, investment opportunities, and behavioral shifts that support Kuwait’s Vision 2035 and enhance resilience beyond oil.
Dr. El Achkar also shared insights from his research fellowship at the LSE Middle East Centre, where he developed a policy blueprint for bioenergy in Kuwait. The study, set to be published by LSE, provides actionable recommendations to advance renewable energy and sustainability in the country, reinforcing AU’s commitment to innovation and national development goals.
