Dr. Masoud Irannezhad, Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering, has been awarded a prestigious research grant under the Henan Province Foreign Expert Projects in China. The grant will support his innovative research on the development of resilient digital twin systems for the sustainable management of hydroclimate extreme events.
This research will be carried out during his appointment as a visiting full research professor at the North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power (NCWU) in Zhengzhou, China from 2025 to 2028.
Dr. Irannezhad’s research focuses mainly on the critical interactions between climate, water resources and sustainable development. He has published extensively in high-impact journals, including Science, in addition to contributing to the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)—one of the world’s foremost scientific organizations.
This prestigious grant represents another significant achievement in Dr. Irannezhad’s distinguished career and further strengthens AU’s global reputation in advancing climate resilience and environmental innovation.
