Virtual Environment for Zero Prototype Design

About this Topic

The design process is changing fundamentally and the key part to it is a reliable and robust conceptual design phase, where significant lead time and design change cost reduction can be achieved with simulation driven development. The ultimate objective is to complete the design development process at the zero prototype level, where the design changes costs are minimum. Simulation driven design reduces product development time and cost while improving overall quality and manufacturing efficiency. Direct measure of success of this digital revolution is accuracy and efficiency of the modelling tools. This talk will showcase some successful applications of simulation led design of composite structures and describe our recent work on development of computational methods for modelling carbon fibre composite materials undergoing high strain rate loading.
