There have been significant advances in the application and development of hydraulic fracturing technology in the past several years in Kuwait. Lot of advances have taken place in fracturing design considerations; fracturing material behavior (acid fluid systems, propping agents, fracture conductivity, fluid loss, fluid rheology); field acquired fracture design. Moreover, fracturing diagnostic and analysis technology (in-situ stresses and stress profiling, downhole fracturing pressure and pressure decline analysis, real-time on-site monitoring and control, and fracture mapping); and three-dimensional fracture propagation simulation are critical for today’s field challenges. Many conventional and unconventional fields in Kuwait demand hydraulic fracturing as a primary completion method, specially due to erratic and heterogeneous properties of formations.

Kutbuddin is Senior Production Enhancement Engineer based in Halliburton Kuwait, with 12+ years of diversified experience in hydrocarbon stimulation domain providing technical support and working closely with multi-disciplinary team in Kuwait. Has keen experiences in well completion and well intervention operations using Coiled Tubing (CTU)- Sand control, Conformance, acidization and hydraulic fracturing field. Has performed optimised and efficient designing, operations in various fields in different countries in MENA and AsiaPac region. Has been involved as Discussion Leader and presenter in various international technical conferences and has authored several publications in the unconventional and domestic domains. He is a Petroleum Engineering graduate of University of Pune, India and an active member of SPE Kuwait Chapter.
