Self-Cleaning Nanocoatings for Minimizing the Impact of Dust Deposition on Solar Cells

About this Topic

Self-cleaning is one of the most attractive techniques to mitigate the effect of dust settlement on the surfaces of photovoltaic devices. The core problem of soiling in harsh weather environments like Kuwait will be discussed in this talk. The work of utilizing and employing metal oxides nanoparticles like TiO2 and ZnO as self-cleaning nanocoatings on solar cells will be primarily presented in this talk. The properties and effectiveness of the nanocoatings against the power production efficiency of solar cells is systematically investigated and will be presented.

Speaker

Dr. Feras Alzubi-PhD

Dr. Feras G. Alzubi, specializing in nanotechnology applications in Photovoltaics, received his Ph.D degree in Physics in 2013 based on his experiments on Organic Photovoltaic Devices from University of Central Florida.

From 2014 to 2021, Dr. Alzubi had worked at Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research as an Associate Research Scientist. He led several R&D projects in the areas of photovoltaic and nano-coatings. Dr. Alzubi has been granted Five US patents in the fields of Photovoltaics and Nanotechnology. In Fall 2021, he joined Australian University (AU) as an assistant professor in physics under the Math and Physics Department in the college of Engineering.
