The presentation will be about the history of nanotechnology, how and when it started, and its impact on our lives. The focus of the talk will be about the prediction power of numerical modeling and simulations. A comparison between experimental findings and theoretical simulations will be illustrated by showing some examples, including Dr. Ali’s published research findings.

Dr. Ali Al-Zubi, PhD

Assistant Professor of Physics and Mathematics at the American University of Kuwait (AUK)

Dr. Ali Al-Zubi is an Assistant Professor of Physics and Mathematics at the American University of Kuwait (AUK). Through his career, he has more than 15 years of progressive research experience of theoretical modeling and simulations in Materials Science and Engineering. He held research positions at Nobel Prizes winner institutions, such as Research Center-Julich and Max-Planck Institute. He used IBM-Supercomputers and High-Performance Clusters to perform his modeling and simulations. His expertise is in Nano-magnetism: Resistive Switching, Electronic properties of Spintronic materials, and predictive quantum theory of Nano-magnets. He also worked on finite temperature effects; phonons, free energies, and phase diagrams of magnetic shape memory alloys.
