Bachelor of Aviation and Airport Operation (0-4)

Program Overview

Air transport and aviation industries are one of the core elements of New Kuwait 2035 strategic plan, as it plays a pivotal role in country’s development and economic dynamics. Air transport enhances connectivity, fostering trade, and stimulating tourism. It serves as a strategic enabler of global commerce, allowing businesses to rapidly access international markets, transport high-value goods, and attract foreign investment. By facilitating the movement of people, air transport promotes cultural exchange, educational opportunities, and workforce mobility. Air transport is also a major global employer, supporting a total of 87.7 million jobs worldwide and providing 11.3 million direct jobs. Aviation enables $3.5 trillion in global GDP. If aviation were a country, it would be the 17th largest economy in the world, supporting nearly 3.5 trillion dollars in economic impact(Air Transport Action Group)

Additionally, it acts as a catalyst for infrastructure development and innovation. Opening of the new Kuwait Airport by 2025, expands international networks, motivates other aviation-related industries to grow & generate jobs, stimulate regional economies, and support supply chain efficiencies. Ultimately, achieving aviation 2035 goals strengthens national competitiveness and drives sustainable economic growth by opening new markets and opportunities for inclusive development.

However, the air transport business and aviation industry are highly complex and interconnected system that relies on seamless coordination between various stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable air transport operations. Air traffic management systems, airports, airlines, ground handling services, and regulatory authorities work together in a finely tuned network under highly regulated environment.

ATC manages the safe and orderly flow of aircraft in the skies and contributes to designing, structuring, and optimizing the airspace. Airlines orchestrating flight operations, fleet management, and route optimization to ensure efficient and reliable air travel. They coordinate schedules, manage passenger & cargo services, and maintain aircraft to the highest safety standards, contributing significantly to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the aviation network. Ground handling services are essential to the air transport business, managing aircraft turnaround operations, including loading, and unloading of cargo and passengers, baggage handling, refueling, and aircraft line-maintenance checks, etc. Airports serve as a hub for air transportation, providing essential infrastructure for accommodating air vehicles and facilitates their operation, while facilitating the efficient movement of passengers and cargo through various terminals. Regulatory authorities oversee safety and compliance, setting stringent standards to uphold safety, security and operational excellence. This interconnection represents a high level of complexity, and perfectly managing it requires a comprehensive understanding of the entire system and its stakeholders.

Aligning with Kuwait’s 2035 vision for aviation, the Bachelor of Aviation and Airport Operation aims to equip participants with the knowledge and expertise needed to address the evolving needs of the aviation sector nationally and internationally by fostering skills in aviation management, particularly in airport and airline context. They will also gain expertise in safety protocols, risk management strategies, airline and airport economics, financial acumen, and marketing.
